The Akaka Falls Lions Club returned to the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaii on a hot and sunny day to provide a needed maintenance service project and then capped the day with a donation of $10,000 from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.

Arriving early in the morning, Lions Club members went right to work washing windows and repairing screens, fixing the screen door, washing and sanitizing donated toys, and painting the upper half of the walls and ceiling in the Director’s office and reception area.

The Weinberg check goes to the FRIENDS, a non-profit partnered with the Center and will be used to support the needs of abused children.  July will be an especially busy month as the Back-to-School requests for clothing and school supplies start rolling in.

Thank you, Akaka Lions Club for all you do to support and help children of abuse right here in East Hawaii.
