Beginning in November of 2017, the FRIENDS launched the third annual PROM DRESS DRIVE to collect gently used dresses and accessories to provide fashionable clothing for deserving youth.

The Akaka Falls Lions Club returned to the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaii on a hot and sunny day to provide a needed maintenance service project and then capped the day with a donation of $10,000 from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.
Discount Fabric Warehouse (DFW), long a supporter of our local East Hawaii community, together with Project Linus, Department of Public Safety and the Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaii stepped up to provide hand-made pillow cases and blankets to the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaii.
25 bright green backpacks were given to FRIENDS’ board member Kathy Romero (pictured here) at the end of the Orchid Show in early June, 2017. The FRIENDS are busy getting ready for the Back-to-School rush for backpacks, clothing and school supplies requests that will be pouring in by early July.
Friday night, May 5, 2017, at the Hilo Hawaiian Moku’ola Room, the contributions of three great “friends” of the FRIENDS were acknowledged and celebrated.
Roselyn Viernes has worked for the safety of children for over 31 years at Child Welfare Services.
Dale Tokuuke has gifted the FRIENDS with hundreds of volunteer hours at the Center along with helpers from the Aloha Exchange Club.
Drucy Casburn, one of our supper FRIENDS’ volunteers, took over the running of the FRIENDS’ office working at least 40 hours a week for more than 6 months when our Program Coordinator was severely injured.
The FRIENDS would love to have you as a walker… or a donor… on behalf of the FRIENDS! And now you can register online and/or make a donation that will automatically credited to the FRIENDS!
