Roselyn Viernes has worked for the safety of children for over 31 years at Child Welfare Services.
Dale Tokuuke has gifted the FRIENDS with hundreds of volunteer hours at the Center along with helpers from the Aloha Exchange Club.
Drucy Casburn, one of our supper FRIENDS’ volunteers, took over the running of the FRIENDS’ office working at least 40 hours a week for more than 6 months when our Program Coordinator was severely injured.
The FRIENDS would love to have you as a walker… or a donor… on behalf of the FRIENDS! And now you can register online and/or make a donation that will automatically credited to the FRIENDS!
Don’t miss our 2nd Annual Recognition Dinner, coming up on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel’s Moku’ola Room! We’ll be honoring three special people. This year we have Roselyn Viernes, Dale Tokuuke and Drucy Casburn. Tickets start at $65 and proceeds will help the FRIENDS support our abused children in East Hawaii.
Many of you donate individually to help the FRIENDS help the keiki. But sometimes we get special help from local businesses!
The FRIENDS join with the Exchange Club of Hilo to support a “Prevent Child Abuse” event at the Mall.
FRIENDS Volunteers and Board members manned a table at this event and distributed information about the FRIENDS and the CENTER.
Every year, the FRIENDS provide Gift Cards for TEENS.
On October 25, 2016, the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaii became the most recent beneficiary of Ohana Fuels’ ‘Fuel Up. Do Good’ program.
BISAC (Big Island Substance Abuse Council) knows how stressful it can be for a child who is being removed from their home… or one returning to their home after being in Foster Care. These “Therapy Bags” contain a Stuffed Animal”, some kind of activity (like a coloring book and crayons) and more. The children now have something that is “just their own” to keep with them. Mahalo, BISAC!
